Genesis Algorithms / Ecommerce Migrations

A NEW PLATFORM.
A PLANNED TRANSITION.

Move from Magento, WooCommerce or BigCommerce to Shopify with a plan for your data, storefront, connected systems and existing URLs.

The service

Moving products is only one part of a migration. We review how the business sells and fulfils orders, identify what needs to transfer and test the new setup before launch. The migration plan also distinguishes historic data from functionality that needs to be rebuilt. We use relevant customer data and feedback to guide decisions, with privacy and data quality considered throughout.

What is included

THE WORK.
IN DETAIL.

01

Discovery & data mapping

An inventory of products, variants, customers, order history, content and integrations, followed by an agreed transfer scope and trial imports.

02

Storefront & feature replacement

A plan for the design and functions you need on Shopify, including alternatives for features that do not translate directly from the old platform.

03

URL redirects & search checks

Map relevant old URLs to their new destinations and check key metadata and internal links. Redirects support continuity; rankings cannot be guaranteed.

04

Cutover & validation

Agree the final data update, order-handling arrangements and domain switch. Validate key journeys and connected systems after launch.

GOOD
QUESTIONS.

Which platforms can you migrate from?

We handle migrations from Magento, WooCommerce and BigCommerce to Shopify, and assess other source platforms during discovery. We agree what can transfer directly, what requires transformation and what needs to be rebuilt.

Will there be downtime?

The launch plan defines any change freeze or interruption needed. The source platform, data updates and connected systems affect the cutover, so we do not promise zero downtime before reviewing them.

Can customer passwords and every record move?

Not all source data maps directly to the destination. We inspect exports and platform constraints, document exceptions, and agree account activation and historical-record handling before transfer.

Can we redesign at the same time?

Yes. We can plan the new design and data migration together. Scope and testing must cover both the updated experience and the records that support it.

Getting started

We need the source platform, catalogue size, required historical records and a list of integrations. Example exports help identify constraints before we agree the transfer scope.
